Choosing a mirror cabinet

A mirror cabinet does two jobs at once, which is why it is usually the right call in a small bathroom. You get the mirror you need plus the storage that stops the basin surround filling up with bottles.

How much storage do you actually need?

  • Single door. One person's daily items. Fits above a compact basin.
  • Double door. The usual choice for a shared family bathroom.
  • Triple door. Wide vanities, or when you want everything behind glass rather than on the counter.

Measure your wall before choosing. A cabinet is deeper than a flat mirror, so check it will not crowd the basin or clash with a door swing.

What to look for inside

Adjustable glass shelves matter more than shelf count, because tall bottles are what make fixed shelves useless. Soft-close hinges are worth having in a bathroom where doors get pushed shut with an elbow.

The humidity problem

A cabinet traps moisture in a way an open mirror does not, so the build has to handle it. These use corrosion-resistant bodies with sealed mirror backing rather than MDF, which swells and delaminates once water finds an edge.

Features on our smart models

Some cabinets here add LED lighting, Bluetooth audio, anti-fog and UV sterilisation for toothbrushes. Take them for what they are. The lighting genuinely improves daily use, UV is useful if the bathroom is shared, and Bluetooth is a pleasure rather than a necessity.
